Renshi Glen Landolt spent his entire life in, and surrounded by, martial arts. He earned a Nidan in Ju-Jitsu, Shodan in Judo, and Shorin-Ryu Karate. In addition, he trained in the following: from 1979-1983 he added Korean full contact Tae Kwon Do under Master Sung Ro; received a black belt for his efforts and started competing. In 1990, Renshi Landolt became exposed to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has continued to study BJJ techniques to this day. While there, he became the fastest person to achieve black belt in this system’s history and also assisted Soke Johns’ in giving seminars throughout the United States. He also helped in the development of the Central Florida Police Academy and volunteered to help train and counsel rape victims. He was rewarded for his efforts by being
awarded the Instructor of the Year in 1991-1994. He also earned his Yodan in the art and became very active in teaching, coaching and competing in Judo and Ju-Jitsu. He was forced out of competition when he became injured with a severely torn shoulder and scapula, but not before accumulating 20 years of tournament experience. He has competed, refereed, and coached, as well as won many state, regional and junior national tournaments in Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Judo.
After the passing of Soke Johns, Renshi Landolt moved to Arkansas in 1995 and founded the Kaigan-Ryu Ju-Jitsu system. Kaigan-Ryu Ju-Jitsu was based on the other Ju-Jitsu systems studied by Renshi Landolt (Samurai, Danzan-Ryu, Budoshin, Okazaki, and Brazilian).
